Pick-your-own blackberries, mostly Kiowa variety (a large,
flavorful blackberry!) are available during Blackberry season, usually mid-May
through July.
Price: $3.00 per pound, you pick them!
(Note: Blackberries are the only thing we have for Pick
Your Own. All other fruits and vegetables are pre-picked. In season, we also
sell Blackberries in the Farmer’s Market pre-picked for those who prefer not to
pick their own.)
We also operate an “almost year-round” indoor farmer’s
market, featuring a wide assortment of fresh and dried produce, local honey,
jams, jellies, pickled vegetables, salsas, dressings, fresh herbs, gift items,
Vidalia Valley products, Circle E Candles, brown eggs and our own free-range
chicken eggs. We sell locally produced items as much as possible—look for the
bright green labels denoting local products.
Note: The indoor Farmer’s Market is open year-round, with
the exception of a few weeks here and there. The Blackberry field is only open
to the public during Blackberry season, and all other farm property except for
the market is always closed to the public.
Layout of field: three acres, containing 36 rows, each 225 feet long, pruned on six-foot tall trellis fencing, so during peak season, you can virtually pick from a “wall of berries!” Many pickers have commented that this was the easiest Blackberry picking they have ever done. Pickers of all heights can stand and reach berries!

2009 was the first season for picking the second half of
the field, and we had high hopes for a banner crop. The production on the entire
field was great, but due to the unrelenting heat in July, the Blackberries which
were exposed to the sun literally baked on the vine, which cut the 2009 season
shorter than normal. In July, the Blackberries shaded by leaves were sweet and
juicy, but there just weren’t enough left to be worth picking. We have had
plenty of rain this fall, which should give the plants some good moisture for
growth of foliage through the winter.
In the fall of 2009, we opened our Farmer’s Market, located
up near the entrance to the
