Pumpkin Hayrides every weekend in October! Over 50,000 pumpkins to chose from in
our fields. A visitor writes on June 28, 2009:(negative
experience) "We went to Lindleys Farm and Market on June 27.
We had decided not to
go after reading the negative reviews last week, but changed our minds
and wanted to try this week after reading the positive
review on June 26th, 2009. We told ourselves that this is our
neighborhood farm. If they want to do business why would they yell at
people? In the beginning the experience was OK, even though the guide
lady used the wording "The red ones HAVE TO BE PICKED” and we were
assigned two lanes with another family (we didn't know them) within
short distance (face to face) to pick. When we finished our area and
still wanted more, she would assign us rows. When we asked for new rows,
the lady doubted "Have you met other people?”. May be this is their
business style. On the way out, when we finished, my husband found a
lovely berry and bent down to pick it, but the farm lady yelled so
loudly at us, that it embarrassed us! " A visitor writes on June 26, 2009:(positive experience)"I feel compelled to write a comment because I was shocked to see three
negative reviews of Lindley's farm! I was there last summer during the
same week that those reviews were written and never had anyone yell at
me or harass me. I have been going to Lindley's for years now, it is the
only pick-your-own farm I go to and I haven't had a single bad
experience, only very positive. I go there for u-pick strawberries,
peas, beets, raspberries, currants and pumpkins and I love it there. I
have never encountered any so called "strawberry nazis" in fact, all the
staff out in the field have been so helpful and kind. They are also
really great with my daughter and other kids that go there- they answer
all their questions and are very friendly! One time when my daughter had
wandered too far and I'd been having a hard time trying to chase her
around all morning, one of the farmers went and got her and brought her
back to me! I was just there today picking strawberries and the woman
out in the field was being very friendly to my daughter and some other
kids, answering all their many, many questions, etc. Not to mention the
fact that all their produce is amazing and they are striving toward more
organic farming methods, which I really appreciate. I hope that those
negative reviews will not deter people from going to this farm. Please
go and see for yourself! " A visitor writes on July 05, 2008:
(negative experience) "Hi, I went to
Lindleys farm (Ancaster, ON, Canada) that I found on your website,
because it was closest to us. I just thought I should let you know that
this farm is awful. There was a "Strawberry Nazi" that hovered over us
the entire time yelling at us and everyone else there if we went too far
down our designated row, and skipped over "valuable" strawberries, or if
we picked one strawberry from someone else's row, or if we didn't pick
from one side of the row we were assigned to. It made the experience
terrible. Also, the lady that was suppose to tell us where to go and
what baskets to use etc. was talking the whole time and didn't help us
at all. The whole experience was horrible, and I will never go back and
I will tell everyone I know to not go there. Just thought you would be
interested in feedback about the farms that you are listing. I'm sure
other people that use your website would be interested to know how
terrible this farm is. (I do really enjoy your website though) " A visitor writes on July 10, 2008:(negative experience) "Ditto to the
(negative) Lindley Farm experience - we also encountered the 'Strawberry
Nazi', whom we were told is named 'Rocco'. Our negative experience
occured on Monday, 7th July 2008 when my son and I went there to check
out the strawberry crops. The young female workers - both in the store
and on the field were pleasant enough with our request to view the
field. Rocco the Strawberry Nazi yells from the middle of the field in
front of everyone 'Hello, are you here to pick'. We said hello back, and
"No". He says (angrily) 'Well then GET OUT'. We learned of his name as
we went back to follow up with the owner to lodge our complaint. The
Owner, Mr. Lindley wasn't too much more pleasant than the Strawberry
Nazi - he actually questioned our motives for 'looking', then went on to
defend Rocco that he wouldn't have kicked us out! When I informed him
that there were up to 25 'witnesses' who heard him yell, and all looked
in our direction, he said 'I'll talk to him', and walked away from us.
Not good customer service. I will never ever go back, and will also
encourage others to stay clear of this place! (Note: my son got a
$500.00 business grant and chose to pick organic fruit and veggies. We
went there with the intentions of seeing what they had to offer, and if
it was worth our time, and gas driving to Ancaster to do business with
Lindley. We got our answer loud and clear!) Stay away, far far away!!!!" A visitor writes on July 12, 2008:(negative experience)"I went
to Lindley's and had a horrible experience. I was there with a group.
The Lady there was yelling at everyone, scolding us for picking in a
different row. Her common statements were 'you are here to pick and not
to eat' and 'keep in your row', 'what are you doing in that row'.
Picking strawberry's is an experience, last year I had a nice one at the
same farm. This year I had one that took all the joy out of picking. If
they want to save on picking they should be ready to accept that people
like to enjoy the picking and might sample ." Has anyone else had experiences here, positive or negative,
can either confirm or refute this one? If so,
please write!
