Below are the U-Pick orchards for grapes that we know of in this area. Not all areas of any state, nor even every state, have grapes orchards that are open to the public. If you know of any others, please tell us using the add a farm form!

Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with the farm directly before you go! If I cannot reach them, I DON'T GO!

Highlands County

  • Grapes of Kath Vineyards - Grapes

Click here for a map and directions. . . Does anyone have current information, are they still offering pick your own or are even open? If so, please write me. Monday thru Saturday, 8 am to 7 pm and Sunday 10 am to 6 pm From U.S. 27 go west 5 miles. Turn right onto Silver Road (a dirt road) and go to the end (about 1 block) to Derby Lane, turn right, go to the end to Muscadine Drive, turn left up to the end of the street.
  • Henscratch Farms Vineyard - strawberries, Blueberries, Muscadines and Scuppernongs (9) Varieties of fresh fruit and wine making grapes and fresh eggs

Blossom, Left on Josephine,Right on Henscratch Road. 10 acres of native southern muscadine and scuppernong grape varieties, a hydroponics growing system for strawberry production, and a highbush blueberry patch. Crop availability: Strawberries: December through March; Blueberries: April, May & June; Muscadines and Scuppernongs: August and September. The nursery produces thousands of plants each year for commercial and hobbyist growers alike. But the true charm is the 101 American breed laying hens that range freely among the vineyard canopy the supply the country store with the fresh eggs. Blueberries in May and June! .     Comments from a visitor on July 02, 2016: strawberries and blueberries also sell fresh eggs and is an awesome winery. i believe it is run by all women. has a fun gift shop with wine tastings, restrooms and places to drink the fresh strawberries shakes they sell!

Grape picking tips

  • Pick ripe: Grapes do not ripen after they are picked
  • Appearance: Look for heavy, firm grapes
  • To harvest grapes, carefully cut the grape clusters from the vine using pruning shears. Be careful not to bruise or damage the fruit or the surrounding vines.
