during the entire season, which lasts from December through April). Most
commercial farms do not open their fields to the general public until the end of
the season, which is usually in April (depending on the weather).
NOTE: The exit numbers on the
Interstates have changed, but we have no way of knowing what the new correct
exit numbers are until the farmers correct their listings; so be sure to ask

Cash, Check. Prices in 2009: $3.00 a pound. Payment: Cash, Check. Due to

July 03, 2009: "We visited this farm today and
picked 6 lbs of blueberries. The berries generally weren't all that large,
but even the smaller ones are sweet and delicious. There were still lots and
lots of blueberries ready to be picked - some bushes looked like they hadn't
been touched - and there are many berries that have yet to ripen. We had
learned both on this site and from friends who had visited the farm that the
mosquitoes are bad there, but they weren't a problem today. We had a great
time and definitely will be visiting this farm again!" A visitor writes on
June 27, 2009: "6/27/09 Just came come from picking
4 lbs of berries at Braddock's. Their berries are simply delicious although
we had to reach a little higher than usual on the bushes to fill our pail.
Always a delight to visit this place." A visitor writes on
June 20, 2009: "We just got home (6/20/09) and the bushes were full! The
berries are the best that we've seen in a few years." A visitor writes on
June 17, 2009: "My 3 year old and I went to this
farm 16 June. I had such a good time with her! The lady, Ann I believe, was
so very nice. There were a ton of ripe berries and several more tons of
almost ripe ones just waiting for the next visitor. BUT....I highly
recommend a DEET bath before arriving and just generally covering as much
body parts as possible. The heat is pretty bad but the skeeters will carry
you away! I found putting my handkerchief over my ears a life-saving measure
since I can't stand that high pitched "EEEEE!" Also, spray your clothes with
bug spray too since they were biting me right through my socks! Miss Ann
helped my little one tie on a little bucket just for her so that she could
kerplink, kerplank, kerplunk!" A visitor writes on June 29,
2008: "I wanted to write and tell you about my wonderful
experience at Braddocks. They are so friendly, even come 12 noon when it's
95 degrees with super high humidity :o) We've been picking twice so far
this year during blueberry season. On July 14th we picked 6 pounds, just
had to return on the 27th and pick 3 more pounds. They still have many
blueberries that are green/pink so they will continue to ripen-their season
is not over yet! On both visits I picked big plump berries, that taste just
wonderful. The bonus to visiting this farm is that the neighbors sell
fresh, local honey and wax from their bee hives out back. Very reasonably
priced also. The table for honey was set up on our Saturday visit, to the
right of the dirt road (dead end of Thomas Mill) where you drive down to the
parking area." A visitor writes on June 29, 2008: "Another
very satisfied customer. What a wonderful place. The berries are delicious
and the owners are as nice as they could be. They weigh the berries {out of
the containers} right in front of you so you know they are honest. It was
such a great experience and I also love that they had fresh honey from next
door! Blake, trust me all the comments are real!" A visitor writes on June 28, 2008: "Awesome
experience. Very friendly and accurately weighed our blueberries. I would
definitely visit again. " Another visitor adds on June 25, 2008: "Oh my! What a
fun time I had with my two boys. We had never been blueberry picking before
and met some friends and all went together. We had a blast! We are going
again next year! The blueberry bushes were huge and chock full of
beautifully big, juicy blueberries. We didn't have to venture far, we
started on the nearest bushes and in no time our buckets were full! They had
just mowed and used the bush hog, so there was no tall grass to trudge
through and I never saw one bug. Super sweet and smiley people who weighed
our berries accurately. What a great experience and the pancakes we have
made with these berries...incredible!" Comments
from a visitor: "This was possibly the best blueberry picking
experience I've ever had and I've gone to u-pick farms for over 25 years.
The bushes were loaded; Pat who is managing the farm was very friendly; and
the berries are weighed fairly. The only drawback, which I didn't mind, is
that most of the bushes had grown over the paths, so you had to push your
way through to get to the interior bushes. Still, it was great and the
berries are delicious!" (UPDATED: June 13, 2008) A note from Blake: People rave about this farm, almost unbelievably
so. Apparently, the owners are so friendly, that's what makes the
difference.

parking lot as they opened at 6 am. My son, friend and I were only able to
pick about 2 lbs of berries after an hour of picking. The ones we found were
pretty small, but still ripe and sweet. We enjoyed it nonetheless (make sure
to bring bug spray!) I suggest you arrive when they open to get the
best picking! Howard's Blueberries and Sellers Blueberries were both out of
fruit this Wednesday." Comments from a visitor, on June 07, 2008: "We went here this
morning (6/7/08)- it is a very popular place. It looked very clean and the
people were very nice but get there early. They were out of berries when we
got there at 10am." Another visitor comments:

only a handful"

(UPDATED: June 15, 2009) A visitor writes on June 27, 2009:
"6/27/09 I am amazed to read anything positive about
this place. Don't know if there's a Mary but here's what happened. Knowing
it's a little late in the season, we called early this morning to ask how
the picking was. The response we got was - "there's plenty of berries". We
then told her that 2 other places - Williams and Dowless had already said
they were out of berries. She continued on that she had plenty, was the
largest blueberry farm in the area and there were plenty for picking. Well,
she flat out lied - when we got there a half hour later, there was barely a
berry to be found. The comment last year about the dog poop still holds true
- there is lots of it. Comments about weighing with the pail and having the
scale facing her does not make it a place I will ever go to. " A visitor writes on June 07, 2009: "We had
an excellent time! Very family friendly! The owner was very nice and
welcoming. The blue berries are amazing! We couldn't stop picking them! They
have tons of bushes to pick from! The berries are $3.00 a pound. I
personally think that is a great price! I am not sure what the issues were
last year but we definitely didn't run into them! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Bring
bug spray! HAVE FUN! " A visitor writes on May 27, 2009: "We went
to Mary's Berries a couple years ago, and the berries were FANTASTIC. The
prices ended up being higher than we had seen advertised, but they were
still very friendly and it was worth the trip from Georgia. We had heard
several complaints the following years, and did not go back. Today, however,
we were calling around to different farms and decided to call Mary's Berries
again, just to check. The price had dropped to $3/pound, and she had plenty
of berries ready to pick, so we decided to go back. It turned out to be a
great idea! We were actually the only ones there, so we had the entire farm
to ourselves. The lady working there was extremely nice and even let us use
some of her bug spray. We took our time and had a blast, and ended up with
about 7 pounds of berries. Everything was weighed very fairly and it was
just a great experience overall. We will definitely be going back, and I
wanted to let everyone know that whatever problems they had last year have
been resolved. Very family friendly and highly recommended! (There was also
a great little farmer's stand on the way to the farm, though I don't know
the name. We loaded up on fruits and veggies and the prices were
fantastic!)." A
visitor writes on May 24, 2008: "We went to Mary's Berries today,
5/24/08. The trees/bushes are loaded with berries! We had lots of fun with
our children today, just picking berries! The blueberries are $4.00 a pound
this year (2008). (UPDATED: May 24, 2008) A visitor
writes on June 04, 2008: "I
went to her farm this weekend. Lots of blueberries and they are $4 /lb.
However, she weighs the bucket with the berries and the scale will face her.
I paid $16 for 4 lbs and when I got home and weighed the berries on a
digital scale, I had less than 3 lbs. I did not eat any on my commute home!
I will not go back for this reason. Surely the owner knows what the buckets
weigh (she encouraged me to grab the largest bucket). It may just be $4 or
$5 but she should be a precise as possible with the upcharge of her berries
(she advertised $2/lb). That is just some feedback, for what it's worth."
A visitor writes on June 9, 2008: "I went today 6-9-08
This woman is scamming me out of berries. I picked 3 lbs and she charged me
for 4 pounds! At $4.00 a pound I will simply go to Public and buy frozen
berries.... She had the scale facing her and was very secret about showing
me the scale. I just read the person above and it really happened to me.
This woman is rude and I would not ever choose this farm again. Watch out
for the Dog poop as you walk...."

Home Canning KitsFeatures:
* All the tools you need for hot waterbath canning - in one comprehensive set!
* Complete with 21 1/2 qt. enameled waterbath canner and "Ball Blue Book" of canning.
* Also includes canning rack, funnel, jar lifter, jar wrencher, bubble freer, tongs and lid lifter.
* A Kitchen Krafts exclusive collection.
This is the same type of standard canner that my grandmother
used to make everything from applesauce to jams and jellies to tomato and
spaghetti sauce. This complete kit includes everything you need and
lasts for years: the canner, jar rack, jar grabber tongs,
lid lifting wand, a plastic funnel,
labels, bubble freer, and the bible of canning, the Ball Blue Book. It's much cheaper than buying the items separately. You'll never need anything else except jars and lids (and the jars are reusable). To see more canners, of different styles, makes and prices, click here!
