A visitor writes on July 28, 2009: "They had everything..I counter about 7 different melons from casaba to savors to a yellow meat watermelon--they have black eye peas, purple hull peas, okra, squash, and the biggest onions in the world, and some beautiful purple bell peppers( never seen those before)..the watermelon is to die for and I eat a passport melon(something new)on the way home. I was there on Sunday and they had Live Jazz on the farm. They said they do tours for kids and community groups. They had an employee restroom that they let me used, which was very clean. There is a nice pinic area with a manicured lawn, with BBQ pit access. This is not an organic farm however the farm said he only sprays when he has too. The crops look amazing you can but your items already picked and shelled or pick your own. Personally, I got a bag of shelled black eyes for $13.50 for 5lbs my mother was impressed. I was able to lie and say I picked them myself. I loved the veggies and people. From the diverse staff to the multi-cultural customers, I did not want to leave so they told me to go hang out on the lawn and eat my melons, so I did with the Jazz."

A visitor writes on June 27, 2009: " Since I wrote to complain about one farm, I should follow up with some real praise for the Swanton Berry Farm operation. On Fathers Day, 2009, after we left Pescadero, we drove south down Highway 1 and visited Swanton's Coastways Ranch U-Pick strawberry fields overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We had researched this farm on their website, and if anything they had understated the beauty and quality of the place. A beautiful location (admittedly on a beautiful day) with friendly, helpful people at the field, and some beautiful fruit. My wife and I and our 7-year-old twins picked two flats in under 20 minutes, paying $2.50 per pound. We enjoyed some wonderful fresh fruit and made some beautiful strawberry jam the next day."

I bought 17 pounds in less than an hour by myself. They can tell you how to preserve them as well. These are great for headaches for me so I want to stock up. Great place. I will go again."
A visitor writes on June 23, 2009: "A friend of a friend went with her mother's group, and I just came home this afternoon with my sons. Worth the visit, great berries! They have restrooms, a picnic area, a koi pond and a jumpy house. Owner is really nice, named Loren Jessop, and welcomes mothers groups, larger groups as well as individuals. If a larger group is planning on attending, call in advance so that he may inflate that jumpy house and be sure to have it ready. He's only been open as a pick-your-own for three weeks now."
