Follow the "yellow apples."  Open: 8 am to 5 pm; daily, August through October.  A drive to our farm is spectacular anytime but especially in the fall when the leaves start turning. You can taste our apples, peaches, nectarines, cider, and other home grown and homemade products. Roadside stand open year round, 5 miles west of Bedford on Route 460. 15' high Johnny Appleseed statue. Restrooms. Picnic pavilion. Tour buses welcome anytime - appointments preferred. The berries peak the second week of July. In 2008, the price was $1.75 a pound.

    Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, Troutdale, VA. Visitors report that there are blueberry bushes about 6 feet high with big, half inch blueberries in August each year, free to pick. Directions: I-81 South to Marion, VA. At Marion take VA 16 South (Buchanon Highway) to Trout Dale. From there head west on VA 603. In 2 miles make left onto USFS 613. After about 2.5 miles go through gate and park within fenced camping/parking area. Trailhead is marked as Appalachian Trail, just beside camp host trailer. See this page for full directions.
