Note about strawberries in
Florida:
There are a few strawberry u-pick farms in Florida open
during the entire season, which lasts from December through April). Most
commercial farms do not open their fields to the general public until the end of
the season, which is usually in April (depending on the weather).
NOTE: The exit numbers on the
Interstates have changed, but we have no way of knowing what the new correct
exit numbers are until the farmers correct their listings; so be sure to ask
when you call the farms!

Sunday 4/12/09! Picked 25 quarts of beautiful berries yesterday, 2 quarts
for $1!!. " A visitor writes on April 04, 2009: "Went on my birthday 4/4/09. Very
friendly people. You stop at the stand and pick up quart containers which
you later return when you pay on your way out. You'll need to bring your own
bags to take them home. The rows are nicely spaced apart and this late in
the season, we picked over 20 quarts at 2 quarts for a dollar. Very nice
berries. They also had sweet Florida onions for sale at the stand. Will
definitely return!" A visitor writes on April 04, 2009: "Went on my birthday 4/4/09. Very

4 port a potties in the center of the farm area. (Two are male, two are
female). Outside the port a potty station is a sink area with hand
sanitizer. Did not see picnic area. Will definitely return!" Comments from a visitor, April 14, 2008: "After calling
Favorite Farms several times, and assuring ourselves that they would be open
on Sunday, 4/13/08, we took the nearly hour-long trip to get some berries.
The phone message stated that they're open through 4/20/08. When we got
there, the farm was closed. With several other cars there at the same time,
we collectively decided to pick berries and leave money in the shack by the
entrance to cover our berries. Within a few minutes, a woman in a small suv
came by and told us that they're closed. She's apparently the owner. She was
telling us that this was her first day off since January, she needed the day
off and she wasn't opening. She told us that the honor system is not
acceptable and didn't seem to care that we had driven an hour for the
berries nor that they phone message stated that they were open. We did call
before we went and I called several times while we were standing there. The
phone message still stated that they were open through April 20, 2008. Just
thought you would like the feedback on this farm." A visitor offers this advice, March 31, 2008: "Cost
for strawberries are 2 quarts/$1 (in 2008). Excellent berries this year! (2008)"

Home Canning KitsFeatures:
* All the tools you need for hot waterbath canning - in one comprehensive set!
* Complete with 21 1/2 qt. enameled waterbath canner and "Ball Blue Book" of canning.
* Also includes canning rack, funnel, jar lifter, jar wrencher, bubble freer, tongs and lid lifter.

This is the same type of standard canner that my grandmother
used to make everything from applesauce to jams and jellies to tomato and
spaghetti sauce. This complete kit includes everything you need and
lasts for years: the canner, jar rack, jar grabber tongs,
lid lifting wand, a plastic funnel,
labels, bubble freer, and the bible of canning, the Ball Blue Book. It's much cheaper than buying the items separately. You'll never need anything else except jars and lids (and the jars are reusable). To see more canners, of different styles, makes and prices, click here!
